The Breakers are an anti-manufacturing faction of workers who are seen to be planning disruptive attacks in newly industrialized cities in Midderland. In contrast to the Burners, their primary goal is the institution of pro-commoner reforms, and many members consider themselves loyal subjects of the High King of the Union. The group was created by a mysterious figure known only as the Weaver.

History[]

A Little Hatred[]

In the industrialized city of Valbeck, the Breakers led by Superior Risinau start an uprising along with the Burners. The rioters burn many buildings and round up the city's wealthy elite. In response, a regiment of soldiers headed by King Orso arrives and surrounds Valbeck. Orso agrees to give clemency to the leaders of the Breakers if they surrender peacefully. After the Breakers agree to the terms and surrender, they are hanged.

The Trouble With Peace[]

The Breakers continue to be a thorn in the side of the Union by causing social unrest. However, there are no other major uprisings like the one in Valbeck. Following the Battle of Stoffenbeck, when Inquisitor Teufel and Arch Lector Pike visit the city, Pike says that he is the Weaver. He has created the Breakers to 'break' the Union and rebuild it anew. And now with the King's soldiers sent to Stoffenbeck, the cities of Midderland are undefended, and the Breakers have risen to take them.
