Jurand chides Leo for his selfishness, and their conversation almost turns heated before Savine calculatedly enters the room with the infant twins and introduces them to Jurand, who is instantly charmed by them, his anger subsiding as he holds little Harod. Leo takes this tender moment to apologize to Jurand and tells him he needs him, and that the new Union needs strong leadership to prevent it falling apart. Jurand says he will help Leo under the condition that Leo not engage in his usual hotheaded recklessness and so long as he get something in return. Leo suggests that Jurand and Glaward be given seats in the Assembly. Jurand agrees to help.
