The Protectorate of Uffrith is a Union territory established after the Second Great Northern War. The southwestern border is demarcated by the Whiteflow, beyond which is another Union territory, that of Angland.
The Dogman is the Northman chieftain who is the Protectorate's leader. His seat of governance is the city of Uffrith. Unlike other Union territories, the Protectorate of Uffrith does not seem to have a Superior from the King's Inquisition.

A Little Hatred[]
In the events leading up to the novel, the city of Uffrith is raided by Stour Nightfall. Following the Battle of Red Hill, Stour and Leo dan Brock fight a duel in the Circle to determine the fate of the Protectorate. Should Leo win, it will remain under the rule of the Dogman, and if he loses, it will go to Scale Ironhand, King of the Northmen. In the end, Leo emerges the winner.
The Trouble With Peace[]
The Dogman, weary and tired, dies of old age in Uffrith. His men have differing views of what they should do now. Some believe they should align themselves with King Stour Nightfall. Others think they should remain in the Union. Rikke, the Dogman's daughter, takes control of the situation and decides to attack Carleon while Stour is away fighting with Leo dan Brock against King Orso's forces in Midderland.
